With the launch of multibanking for private customers, private individuals now also have the opportunity to consolidate their financial data from various banks securely in one place. This marks the beginning of a new era of transparent and secure financial management in Switzerland.
Multibanking for private customers launches in Switzerland
Swiss banks now allow private customers to consolidate accounts from various institutions safely in a single app based on the open banking platform bLink from SIX. This represents an important step toward a more open and innovative Swiss financial system.
At launch, customers can connect their accounts across eight banks and two fintechs. Altogether, over 30 banks are already providing the necessary interfaces.
Multibanking enables consolidated overviews, spending analyses, and budget planning across multiple accounts. In the coming years, more banks and fintechs will introduce additional services that will further simplify access to financial information.
The open banking platform bLink, operated by SIX, provides the technical foundation, ensuring standardized and secure data exchange between financial institutions and third-party providers ‒ always with the explicit consent of the customer.
Multibanking ‒ an industry-wide initiative
The debut of multibanking is the result of a broad-based industry initiative spanning several years. The multibanking initiative was rolled out in 2022 by the association Swiss Fintech Innovations (SFTI). The Swiss Bankers Association (SBA) subsequently coordinated a memorandum of understanding, which numerous Swiss banks signed in May 2023.
